I’m reaching out today on behalf of my dear friend, Carolyne Jackson, who is facing one of the biggest battles of her life. Carolyne has been courageously fighting Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a progressive lung disease that has made even the simplest things—like breathing, walking, and everyday life—extremely difficult. Despite her strength and determination, her doctors have now determined that a lung transplant is her best chance for a longer, healthier life.
Carolyne has been accepted for treatment at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, and we are incredibly grateful that she has health insurance to help cover the medical procedure itself. However, there is a major hurdle she must overcome before she can move forward with the transplant. In order to qualify for the transplant, Carolyne must show that she has the financial resources to temporarily relocate and live near the hospital for up to four months following surgery. This is required so her doctors can closely monitor her recovery and provide the critical follow-up care that transplant patients need.
During this time, Carolyne will need to cover temporary housing near the hospital, living expenses while she is unable to work, transportation to and from frequent medical appointments, and daily necessities during recovery. Anyone who knows Carolyne knows her kind heart, strength, and the way she has always been there for others. Now she needs our help. We are asking friends, family, and our community to come together and support Carolyne during this difficult time. Every donation—no matter the amount—will help her move one step closer to receiving the life-saving transplant she needs. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Carolyne in your prayers.
