My name is Carol Hardy. I’ve been caring for my brother who had to have heart surgery but ended up with disabilities from a perioperative cerebellar stroke. Since the end of April it’s been a lot of trying to figure out what he can and cannot do. He’s currently staying on my couch. Not ideal and we just found out that his disabilities will take a long time to resolve, as there are vestibulococchlear deficits affecting his balance, vision, and coordination. These deficits have their own therapy that has to occur before he can even do the regular PT/OT. He’s had to buy walking poles to get around and is using assistive devices just to get around. If you are able to help, this will help our family care for him and make sure he’s able to get all this therapy and still pay his bills and move forward to whatever his new normal will be, likely a disabled/assisted living type apartment after intense rehab hopefully.
I know times are tough. But if you’re able to help, we would greatly appreciate it. We’ve tried to do it without asking for help but the light at the end of the tunnel is further away than we expected.
Thank you and please keep Jonathan in your prayers.
