Hi! My name is Caroline Copthorne, I’m an aspiring opera singer from Las Vegas, Nevada.
I’ve recently been offered the exciting opportunity to study opera in Europe at the program Prague Summer Nights (PSN) Young Artist Music Festival. PSN offers aspiring young professionals in the world of opera and orchestra the opportunity to perform in some of Europe’s most historic cities such as Prague, Tabor, and Vienna. Participants will perform a fully staged opera, a chamber music concert, an opera scenes concert, a cabaret concert, will receive world-class individual coaching and masterclasses, will take classes in acting and diction (Italian, German, Czech), and will be offered other career development opportunities.
I was offered the fantastic role of Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and am absolutely thrilled!!
I will be a part of three different performances across Prague, Tabor, and Vienna as a part of this program. It's a fantastic growth opportunity for me to get stage time and sing a leading role in Vienna, one of the most prolific music cities in history.
I was also offered an incredibly generous scholarship that covers about a third of the cost of this program. However, I will still need some assistance in covering the rest of the tuition as well as flight costs and spending money. Here is the total cost breakdown:
Festival Tuition After Scholarship: $3,095.00
Housing: $1,595.00
This covers:
(a) Twelve (12) nights stay at the Palcat Hotel (Tábor) or similar based on sharing double rooms, triple rooms.
(b) Nine (9) nights stay at the AMU Dormitories or similar in Prague based on sharing double or triple rooms.
(c) Seven (7) nights stay at a hotel in Vienna based on sharing double rooms, triple rooms. Limited number of quad rooms may be used on a case-by-case basis.
(d) Hotel breakfast in Tábor (June 17 – June 28).
(e) One (1) welcome dinner.
(f) One (1) farewell dinner.
(g) Motor coach transfers from Prague airport to Tábor (June 16), from Tábor to Prague (June 28), from Prague to Vienna (July 7), and to the Vienna airport on departure day (July 14). There will be multiple buses on arrival day (June 16) from Prague airport to Tábor.
(h) Performances, masterclasses, coaching, workshops, concerts, and recitals in venues and halls in the Czech Republic and Austria, including staged performances of Die Zauberflöte and Le Nozze di Figaro at the Haus der Industrie in Vienna, orchestra concerts in Tábor at the Oskar Nedbal Theater, in Prague at Smetana Hall, and other Czech venues. Additional performances include chamber music opportunities, opera scenes in Tábor at the Oskar Nedbal Theater, and a cabaret concert at a Prague Jazz Club.
(i) Professional quality photography and video recordings of all Haus der Industrie performances in Vienna.
This is a large sum of money, but a life-changing opportunity that I strongly believe would greatly advance my career and my skills. If you donate, you would not only be helping me achieve this once-in-a-life-time opportunity, but you would also be helping me open a door to a potential career in opera that could change my life. Any amount of money contributed would help and would go towards the expenses listed above.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration with this!
