Help Caroline Overcome Theodore's Tragic Loss

I am starting this fundraiser for my very dear friend Caroline Esclapez. I have known Caroline for 10 years, we met at the MDSPCA and immediately became "foster partners" . Caroline is one of a kind, anyone at the MDSPCA willl tell you how she has devoted herself to caring for countless animals and sometimes difficult cases. She never says no, so now that she is in dire situation I feel the need to do this for her.

Her sweet cat, Theodore was playing with a dog that Caroline was dogsitting when the dog attacked and seriously injured him. She rushed him to the Pet E.R. where he went under emergency surgery to try to save him. The surgery went well, but 24 hours later, with his mom by his side, he suddenly crashed and soon passed away. In spite of having pet insurance, Caroline is left with a balance of over $7,000.

The dog's owner, who after the accident confessed that she knew that the dog was not compatible with cats (but 'forgot to mention it'), initially offered to pay for all veterinary costs. Shockingly, she soon reversed course and refused to take responsibility for the expenses, completely ghosting Theodore's Mom, even after being offered the possibility of a schedule of payments.

Caroline is understandingly traumatized and emotionally broken by what happened. She decided not to take legal action because she cannot afford lawyer services at this point, and she wants to focus on her emotional recovery and caring for her remaining pets.

Theodore and his mom fostered over 100 kittens together. Theodore was so good with the little babies that he was featured on local television on Father's day. Together they saved many lives and brightened many more.

We cannot bring back Theodore, but let's help Caroline recover from this trauma. Any small donation will help.
