Help Caroline Access Life-Saving Treatment

My daughter, Caroline, is a bright, happy, successful 30-year-old woman. She and her husband, Noah, both work full-time jobs and operate a small event business on the side. Caroline is a professional chef, currently managing the kitchen at her local co-op grocery store, Wholesome Harvest Food Co-op in Frostburg, MD. She has been involved with their board of directors, has served on their volunteer committees and is highly committed to her work with their community organization. Noah manages the restaurant and bar across the street from Caroline’s workplace, and they often find time to have lunch together during the work week. They are involved in their community through local charities and outreach work for marginalized individuals. They make every attempt to support local businesses and offer help to anyone in need who asks.

Although they both work more than 40 hours a week and run their business, healthcare insurance is simply not affordable. This has been a manageable issue until this week. Caroline has been diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy, a serious chronic kidney disease that, with proper medical oversight, can be completely managed, and Caroline could still lead a normal, long, and healthy life. Without medical oversight, my 30-year-old vibrant daughter will succumb to the effects of this disease and die. She has found an insurance plan that will cover the most current treatment protocol for managing this disease, without a deductible. The plan will cost approximately $740 each month, which covers both Caroline and Noah, without which, her necessary medication would cost upwards of $12,000 per month!

We are here asking for help to cover the next 24 months of insurance premium payments. All of our family has come together to offer some assistance each month, but the next year is going to get tighter and tighter, and we are all so afraid of losing this amazing person from our lives. As her mother, I am absolutely petrified about what the future may (or may not) hold for Caroline. Anything will help, and please know that our entire family is grateful beyond words for whatever you are able to share.
