My mom, Carolina, is in danger of losing her home. For years, she worked in a school cafeteria, cooking and serving food to students. The work environment was so unhealthy that both her mental and physical health suffered a great deal. Her knees are badly damaged and are often in pain. About five years ago, the years of hard work and difficult experiences, took their toll and she had to stop working altogether.
Since that time, my dad has been the sole provider, whose job provided the health insurance for my mom. Unfortunately, this summer he was in a physical altercation and in the process of trying to defend himself he hurt the man who started the fight. He will be unable to earn money for at least the next 6-8 months as he serves out a jail sentence. My dad is a hard worker who had never been in trouble before this. Our family is deeply saddened by this event and are finding ways to heal together. But first we want to make sure my mom is able to keep our childhood home.
My mom is worried every day about what is going to happen to her. She has been cutting back on absolutely everything she can, but unless she can find a way to meet her mortgage, she will probably lose her home.
Her mortgage is $1,500 a month, so $9,000 over the next six months. Any little bit helps, and we would really appreciate anything that you can contribute.
