Three-year-old Carolina is fighting for her life in Guatemala, and her family urgently needs help. Carolina became seriously ill this past week and was rushed to the hospital in Sololá. She has a severe kidney infection that has reportedly spread to her liver. Doctors are still running tests and are also concerned about possible appendicitis. Her condition is extremely serious, and her family is terrified.

Carolina’s mother, Ceci, is a beloved part of the Culture Chalk organization and runs a local community center called New Hope Home. The center has been a refuge for countless mothers and children in her community. Through her work, Ceci has also helped make Guatemala feel like home for so many visiting families. She has spent so much of her life caring for others, and now she and her daughter need that same love and support.

Carolina is currently receiving care at a public hospital, but additional testing, procedures, and treatment through a nearby private hospital come at a cost her family needs help covering. We do not know what the coming days will bring or how much her treatment will ultimately cost. Right now, the goal is to help Carolina get whatever additional medical care she may need and ease some of the financial burden on Ceci and her family.
