Dear Friends,
We’re reaching out on behalf of two incredible people, Carole and Marc Townsend, who were recently involved in a devastating car accident that has left their lives forever changed.
While driving to what was meant to be a rare and joyful date night to see the Dave Matthews Band in Atlanta, their car was struck just 15 minutes from the amphitheater by another vehicle that crossed directly in front of them. In an instant, their evening turned into a nightmare.
Marc thankfully walked away with bruised ribs and other injuries from which he has recovered well. But Carole was not so fortunate.
She sustained multiple open fractures in both ankles, a shattered kneecap, broken ribs, and a dislocated finger. She has already endured four intensive surgeries, weeks of excruciating pain, and a month-long hospital stay at Northside Gwinnett Trauma Center.
Now, she is being discharged home—but her recovery is far from over.
We're here to help Carole recover after a devastating car accident
Goal: $100,000
To cover:
• In-home nursing care @ $45,000 for 2.5 months
• Medical transport services for 3 months appx $2,000
• Home modifications for accessibility $25,000
• Outpatient rehabilitation support and out of pocket medical expenses once insurance max is reached
• Difference on what they got for their car from insurance vs replacement car $25-30k
The Road Ahead
- Carole cannot put any weight on her feet for at least 3 months. Intensive physical therapy can't even begin until then. Despite having both medical and car insurance, critical care services like in-home nursing, physical therapy, and medical transport are not covered. Yes, you read that right.
With two types of insurance, Carole is being sent home without:
A nurse to monitor her post-surgical recovery
At-home therapy to prevent further deterioration
Accessible modifications like ramps or bathroom safety rails
Reliable transport for surgeries and rehabilitation appointments
Community the way it's meant to be...
Marc and Carole have always given of themselves. They are devoted to their church, charitable causes, and dog rescue services. Now they need our help to ensure Carole can recover safely and with dignity.
