Hi, my name is Mary. I am fundraising for Carol Sauro.
- On 4/3, Carol went in the hospital for a routine, outpatient gallbladder removal. Within 4 days, her life was hanging by a thread. Unknown to her at the time, her bowels were perforated and caused her excruciating pain, high fevers, swelling and she became septic and her body started shutting down. She was hours from possible death.
They did emergency surgery and opened her up, literally cleaning every organ and her entire insides and putting her back together. She woke up to 37 staples, swollen body and a colostomy which we hope is temporary.
Carol has been off work for 5 weeks, unpaid and can't work for several more weeks. Her insurance won't pay for home health.
She lives alone and has her current monthly rent and bills plus all the medical bills, wound care and colostomy supplies.
To anyone that knows Carol, you know she is the most selfless person we know. She would give her last penny to someone in need and has always helped others. She is kind, caring, and an incredible soul. I am proud to call her friend. Please find it in your hearts to help our dear friend in her time of need . Thank you and God bless.
