Help Carol Keep Her Apartment

Donation protected
Hello again. My name is Carol Grant. I am a 25 year old autistic trans woman who, last year, was able to move out of her parents' place with the help of generous donations from friends, family, and followers alike. I've been immensely grateful to all who donated in 2019 for each day I get to spend in my apartment.  Now, unfortunately, I'll have to ask for your help again.

2020 was supposed to be the year I got my life in order. Script projects were lining up, I had another purchase ready, and I was going to earn another year's worth of rent. Then, as you're all aware, the pandemic happened and put the entire industry on hold. Only now has it been recovering more steadily but it's still put a pin on all of my projects.

I have already begun searching for other jobs to pay rent, already a difficult task when you're on the spectrum and struggle with basic retail positions due to numerous sensory processing disorders. I've found some good openings for work-from-home jobs. I originally had enough rent saved for this month, but insurance issues kept me from obtaining refills of my medication, causing withdrawals and extra charges on my card that have put my savings through the wringer. Now I will definitely be unable to pay this month's rent, let alone next month's to complete the lease agreement.

I really hate to ask again, especially considering how generous you all were last year. I didn't want to seem like I made bad on my promises for an independent life. But this pandemic has been nothing short of unprecedented and has put a wrench on everyone's plans for the future, not just mine.

All I know is that I can not be forced to move back to my parents' place, especially not now.  As of this moment, my conservative mother has made the household feel less safe for me, as she dives deeper into sources like Breitbart and alt-right YouTubers/podcasters; attends rallies where most of the audience aren't wearing masks nor social distancing, thus increasing risk of infection for anyone quarantining at home; as well as filing the paperwork to legally own a firearm. At worst, I'd typically pack my things and move in with friends in Chicago and/or Newfoundland, but with the borders between countries and some states closing, even that prospect's looking less and less likely.

I understand if not everyone who donated last year can contribute today. This has been a hard year for the entire world, and a uniquely exhausting one for those living in the States. However, I thank those who are able to donate, or even just sharing this with others who can. A little goes a long way. Thank you all for everything.
