Hi, my name is Mía, and I’m fundraising for my dear friend Carol Tortoza — one of the most determined, talented, and inspiring people I know.

Carol is 25 years old and currently in her second year of a Fashion Design program in France, pursuing a dream she’s held onto for as long as she can remember. Getting to this point hasn’t been easy — it’s taken courage, sacrifice, and years of hard work.

Carol was born and raised in Venezuela, where studying fashion simply wasn’t an option. There were no programs available in her area, and the country’s ongoing economic and political crisis made it nearly impossible to plan for the future. But despite those challenges, Carol and her family saved every bit they could so she could move abroad and finally study what she loves.

She made it to France and completed her first year with the help of her father and through her relentless effort. She earned a scholarship to help cover tuition, worked part-time to support herself, and received housing assistance from the French government — all of which allowed her to get through her second year.

But recently, due to complications with her student visa, Carol lost access to her housing support. Now she’s at risk of not being able to continue her studies. Without that assistance, she simply can’t afford the tuition and registration fees for her third and final year, and the payment deadline is June 30th.

Her family is still in Venezuela and unable to help financially. The cost of living there is overwhelming — the minimum wage doesn’t even cover the basics. Her father is doing everything he can, supporting their family and aging grandparents on very limited means.

Carol has worked so hard to make it this far. She’s been juggling jobs and studies nonstop for two years, and she’s never lost sight of why she’s doing this. For Carol, fashion isn’t just a career — it’s a way to tell Venezuela’s story, to celebrate her culture, and to shine a light on a country that often feels forgotten.

She wants to bring the colors, creativity, and spirit of Venezuela to the world through her designs. This degree isn’t just a diploma — it’s a symbol of resilience, purpose, and pride in her roots.

Hola, mi nombre es Mía y estoy organizando esta campaña para mi querida amiga Carol Tortoza, una de las personas más luchadoras, talentosas e inspiradoras que conozco.

Carol tiene 25 años y actualmente está cursando su segundo año en una carrera de Diseño de Moda en Francia, persiguiendo un sueño que ha tenido desde que tiene memoria. Llegar hasta aquí no ha sido fácil: ha requerido sacrificios, valentía y muchísimo trabajo.

Carol nació y creció en Venezuela, donde estudiar moda no era una opción. En su ciudad no existían programas de estudio en este campo, y la situación económica y política del país hacía casi imposible planear un futuro. Aun así, ella y su familia ahorraron durante años para que pudiera mudarse al extranjero y estudiar lo que realmente ama.

Gracias al apoyo de su papá y a su propio esfuerzo, Carol completó su primer año. Obtuvo una beca que cubrió parte de la matrícula, trabajó medio tiempo para mantenerse y recibió ayuda del gobierno francés para su alojamiento, lo que le permitió avanzar en su segundo año.

Pero recientemente, por complicaciones con su visa estudiantil, perdió el acceso a esa ayuda para la vivienda. Sin ese apoyo, no puede cubrir los costos de matrícula e inscripción para su tercer y último año — y la fecha límite de pago es el 30 de junio.

Su familia sigue en Venezuela y lamentablemente no puede ayudarla económicamente. El salario mínimo allá no alcanza ni para cubrir lo básico. Su papá hace todo lo posible, pero también debe sostener a la familia y apoyar a sus abuelos, quienes viven con una pensión que no alcanza para vivir.

Carol ha trabajado y estudiado sin parar durante los últimos dos años, y nunca ha perdido de vista su objetivo. Para ella, la moda no es solo una carrera: es una forma de contar la historia de Venezuela, de celebrar su cultura y de llevar su luz y creatividad al mundo.

Su meta es mostrar, a través del diseño, la fuerza, la esperanza y la belleza de un país que muchas veces es olvidado por el resto del mundo. Este título representa mucho más que una meta académica: es una forma de honrar sus raíces y de aportar algo valioso a su gente.
