Help Caro get back on her feet!

If you know Caro, you know that she has the energy, drive and passion of one hundred humans. You know that she uses that drive and passion to share yoga with the world. A dedicated practitioner since age 14, she has devoted her life to teaching yoga. Most yoga teachers like Caro are independent contractors which means: no workers comp insurance, no unemployment insurance and oftentimes, no health insurance. If we are physically unable to work for any reason, the one (and sometimes only) thing there is to fall back on is community.

On Tuesday, December 13th, Caro had emergency knee surgery to address a chronic injury that had unexpectedly become a much more serious and acute problem. While she will happily teach from a chair or in front of a computer screen during her recovery, Caro cannot travel or teach in a heated yoga room for her first few weeks of recovery. These conditions of healing have led to significant financial strain because she is unable to travel to the various cities and states where she had workshops scheduled to teach in December and January. While she is grateful that her insurance company at least covered her surgery, it will not cover the physical therapy that her surgeon has deemed necessary in order to fully heal her knee so that Caro can get back to sharing the work she loves so much. On top of that, she has her daily and monthly expenses to keep up with but only a fraction of her income.

If you know Caro, you know 2022 has been a tough year already. Her father (a big source of love and support) and beloved pup both passed away and she had to close her Miami Yoga studio. At a time that would bring many of us to our knees, Caro forged ahead and continued to travel and teach, spreading her wisdom and joy wherever she went. This surgery, however, has forced her to sit still for a while, and she could use support from the community she has worked so diligently to foster. Donations here will help cover Caro’s living expenses and physical therapy appointments needed for the successful healing of her knee. Anything you can give is deeply appreciated.
