EDIT - I had started a fundraiser on Facebook, but due to some technical errors and restrictions I found it is not the best platform for, so I created this page. I want to send a big THANK YOU to the following individuals who have already graciously donated to Carmen; Andrew Peterson, Christian Paquette, Darlene Hinton and Jordan Berget!
As a lot of you know, this isn’t Carmen’s first battle with cancer, it’s actually her fourth, and she’s fighting for her life. This fundraiser is being set up for Carmen, Ward Buck and family to help pay for medical and living expenses during her battle with Myelofibrosis(a form of leukaemia.)
She had been given 5 years, possibly 6 if she took daily chemo, initially. Unfortunately she has been told recently that the cancer is progressing faster than expected. Through bi-weekly blood work the doctors have discovered that the Myelofibrosis is mutating into Acute Myelold leukaemia. She has now been fast tracked onto the transplant list, and a donor has been found. If Carmen does not get the transplant, they’re giving her 2 years to live.
The costs associated with this procedure and recovery period are not covered by AHC. She has to stay in Calgary at the Cancer care transplant apartments for a minimum of 2 months, providing everything goes exactly as planned. Her stay at the apartment has a monthly rate of $1300.00, and she has to have round the clock care from her family. This does not include groceries or gas for her family to take care of her, one member at a time. Carmen will not be able to work for at least a year to recover from her transplant, resulting in not bringing in a bi-weekly income. We are hoping to raise enough to cover her medical expenses and to help maintain their home back in Winfield.
We understand with CoVid and the economy that times are tough, every little bit counts and will really make a difference. Please help in their time of need, it would be such a blessing if Carmen could focus on healing with her family by her side, and not have to worry about how they’re going to pay for everything. She needs to focus on herself. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
