I am Carmen's niece and we are working together to raise money to alleviate some of her burden. When COVID started, we all had significant challenges to face, Carmen's was a diagnosis of bilateral breast cancer.

Two very different kinds, one of which being the most aggressive form of breast cancer (as if cancer alone isn't bad enough). As she went through rounds of chemotherapy, she continued working as a caregiver. Carmen handled her numerous rounds of chemo very well. She was doing great, underwent a bilateral mastectomy and came out of the operating room smiling. She has maintained her positive outlook and lively spirit against all odds.

At home she was healing well, until a rash appeared, she began to lose her balance, and she was vomiting.

Turns out all those symptoms... cancer.

I was mad, but not discouraged. Carmen is a fighter. She is strong and never fails to see the silver lining.

We miss her at home but know there is still a lot of fighting left to be done. The caregiver now has to be cared for during this battle. Our goal is to alleviate her financial worry so that she can focus on healing.

Soy la sobrina de Carmen y estamos trabajando juntos para recaudar dinero para aliviar parte de su carga. Cuando comenzó COVID, todos teníamos desafíos importantes que enfrentar, el de Carmen fue un diagnóstico de cáncer de mama bilateral.

Dos tipos muy diferentes, uno de los cuales es la forma más agresiva de cáncer de mama (como si el cáncer por sí solo no fuera lo suficientemente malo). Mientras pasaba por rondas de quimioterapia, continuó trabajando como cuidadora. Carmen manejó muy bien sus numerosas rondas de quimioterapia. Estaba muy bien, se sometió a una mastectomía bilateral y salió del quirófano sonriendo. Ella ha mantenido su actitud positiva y su espíritu animado contra viento y marea.

En casa se estaba curando bien, hasta que apareció un sarpullido, comenzó a perder el equilibrio y estaba vomitando.

Resulta que todos esos síntomas ... cáncer.

Estaba enojado, pero no desanimado. Carmen es una luchadora. Ella es fuerte y nunca deja de ver el lado positivo.

La echamos de menos en casa, pero sabemos que todavía queda mucha lucha por hacer. Ahora hay que cuidar al cuidador durante esta batalla. Nuestro objetivo es aliviar su preocupación financiera para que pueda concentrarse en sanar.
