Carmeleet Gremillion, an 89-year-old resident of Plaucheville, Louisiana, experienced a life-changing event last week. During a severe storm, she stepped out of her kitchen just moments before a 100-year-old tree crashed through her house, crushing the kitchen and possibly compromising the entire structure. It was a terrifying moment, but thankfully, Carmeleet was unharmed.

Now, Carmeleet faces the daunting challenge of picking up the pieces. Her home, filled with memories and cherished belongings, has suffered significant damage. She may need extensive repairs, and there’s uncertainty about whether insurance will cover the costs. In addition to the structural damage, many of her personal items were lost or ruined in the storm and its aftermath.
