Help Carmel re-build her life in Lismore

A message from Sarah & Eva (supporting Carmel Devine)

Carmel has lost everything - except her life and children and a few possessions.

 

We are Sarah and Eva from VIC, and we have created this page for our friend Carmel and her children.

In 2017 Carmel attended our Wedding as Best Lady in Dunedin, New Zealand - and now she needs our help.

 

Carmel is a creative (supporting the Arts as an Artist and Art Lover, a Business Creative (Fashion), an Executive Assistant and now an Advisor with the local Council. She is a determined, loving Mother of three children - two live at home.

 

Unfortunately, Carmel and her family have been badly affected by the crushing Lismore Floods. She was at home when water began to fill her house, eventually reaching up to the Roof - when she and her two children survived after climbing onto the wardrobes - to escape quickly rising floodwater.

 

Due to the danger of the flood / and instability of her home, Carmel cannot yet get back into her house in the centre of Lismore in Molesworth Street (shown here), smelling of the River, dirt and grime - sludge everywhere. It reached up to the Roof, 2-3m higher than any previous flood in Lismore.

 

 

Carmel has lost everything - except her life and beloved children - and a few possessions.  Luckily, she managed to salvage her passport, some jewelry and clothes.

 

What has occurred to Carmel, her brave children - and the Lismore community has been devastating. Unfortunately, it will take a long time for Carmel and the local community to recover.

 

We are asking for support for Carmel and her family during this time. Money will not replace the cherished items - but it will help Carmel and her family get back on their feet.  She may put the money to a Tiny House to save on Rental and/or keep it for monthly expenses.

 

We would be so grateful if any of our friends / family - or Carmel's friends and family could help.  Carmel will use the money to replace essential items and support herself and her children - until she can return home.
