Hi, My name is Kelly. I am little Carmel's fur mommy. Carmel is a rescue who came into my life under very special circumstances back in 2021. May sound a bit silly but Carmel is my truly my best friend, we share an incredible bond and have been inseparable ever since she came home with me April of 2021. Postal workers, grocery store clerks, my dentist and even a janitor at Costco in my home town all know and love Carmel. She is always in my arms wherever I go and always puts a smile on everyones face. Carmel is very gentle, loving pup her calm demeanor is impossible not to love. She enjoys constant pets, cuddles and slowly walking around at the neighborhood park looking for snacks.
Today, Carmel was admitted to emergency care due to a severely collapsed tracheal episode. What started the day off as a constant cough rapidly progressed into labored breathing, wheezing and within a few hours she was desperately gasping for air. By the time we arrived at the vet her tongue and gums began turning blue. She was rushed to the back and immediately placed on oxygen support. After about an hour my vet informed me her condition was continuing to deteriorate and she would need to be transferred to a veterinary hospital that was better equipped to give her the care she urgently needed to survive. As I am writing this Carmel is still hospitalized and needs to remain in an oxygen chamber to help her breathe. I am not sure when she will be able to come home as she has had to be continually sedated due to the severe respiratory distress. I still can't believe Carmel's condition escalated so rapidly. Please keep her is your prayers that she will make a full recovery and get to come home soon, it feels so empty with out her laying next me
Today's emergency veterinary care has reached a shocking total of $6400 which I was in no way prepared for. I am a bit embarrassed to ask for help but don't know what else to do. We could really use your kindness during this challenging time. If you're able to donate, even just a little, it would mean the world to Carmel and l. If you can’t donate, even just sharing this would be a huge help. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for any support—big or small Carmel and I are forever grateful ❤️
