Help Carlyn with her massive medical bill
Donation protected
Hi friends and family!
As many of you know, I was hit by a car as a pedestrian in September of last year. The past 6 months have been some of the most challenging months of my life as I recover from the serious injuries of the accident. Between being hospitalized, intensive surgeries and needing a caretaker in the form of my parents and friends for 12 weeks, I have learned so much about the power of community in times of need.
This being said, I feel sad that I have to create a fundraiser and continue to think about my accident but I am doing it because I learned at the end of the year the driver that hit me was *not* insured (and also did not receive a ticket or get in any trouble for hitting me - which is a whole other story). Because he doesn't have insurance, my personal injury lawyer shared the driver will not be covering any of my medical bills or surgeries.
This was hard news to hear as my medical bills are well over $200,000. My insurance will cover some but due to the plan I chose as someone who is usually very healthy, I will owe nearly half of my bill (lesson learned regarding health insurance). This amount will likely increase as I learned I need yet another surgery on my arm this year because it still broken in many places. Though I'm happy to be on the other side of this, this experience has brought a great deal of stress to me and my family as I am truly nowhere near where I want to be in terms of feeling normal. I know that will take time as well as physical and mental therapy.
All to say, I don't love having to ask for help, but I'm in a place where I need it. Please please only donate if you have the capacity - I do not want to cause anyone else stress. I really appreciate the support from near and far. I seriously would not have made it through this experience without the love I received from everyone as I healed, and continue to heal from this accident. Thank you so much <3
xoxo
