Help Carly Triumph Over Scoliosis
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Teressia and I am a family friend starting this GoFundMe for Ms. Carly Hoffman.
Life has a way of presenting challenges when we least expect them, and it's during these times that the power of community shines the brightest. Today, I am reaching out to this incredible community on behalf of a dear friend, Jennifer, whose world was recently turned upside down by unexpected news about her daughter, Carly.
Jennifer, a pillar of strength and generosity in her local and online community, has always been the first to lend a helping hand. Whether it's through her small business that she runs with unwavering dedication or her countless acts of kindness, Jennifer has touched the lives of many around her. Now, it's our turn to give back to someone who has given so much.
Tragically, Carly (who already lives with Autism, ADHD and Anxiety Disorders) has been diagnosed with scoliosis and is facing a major surgery in February. This surgery, while crucial for her health and future well-being, brings with it not only emotional strain but also significant financial challenges.
This GoFundMe campaign is more than just a call for financial support; it's a rallying cry for us to stand with Jennifer and is a critical step in alleviating the burden of this large and very sudden medical endeavor. The surgery, essential for her daughter Carly's health, entails not only a substantial financial commitment but also demands a significant emotional investment. As a small business owner, Jennifer faces the dual challenges of watching her child go through a painful recovery while also coping with the loss of income during her absence from work. Your contributions will allow Jennifer the much-needed financial relief, enabling her to take the necessary time off to be with Carly during her surgery and to support her through the difficult recovery period at home. This support is vital in ensuring that Jennifer doesn't have to bear the additional stress of lost wages, allowing her to fully concentrate on Carly's recovery and care.
We have all known Jennifer and her family as people who bring light and support to others. Now, in their time of need, let's come together to offer them the same compassion and assistance they has always shown us. Your generosity can make a real difference in the lives of this family as they navigate this challenging time.
Thank you for your support, your kindness, and your willingness to help keep this wonderful family strong and supported.
A note posted by Jennifer announcing the news:
"Several close to us already know, but I know there’s friends/family that haven’t gotten the details yet. The last 2 months have been a whirlwind of emotions. While on Camp Tecumseh field trip in November, Carly started complaining of back pain and I noticed a muscle mass, so we went to the ER upon returning home. They told us then they believed it was likely Scoliosis, within a few days we had an X-RAY to confirm but what we saw made me cry, as you can see the image here is what the tech showed me and I was mortified.
Her top curve is 64 degrees and her bottom is 50 degrees. Within one week we were at Riley Ortho and being scheduled for surgery. I’ve been flooded with emotions of, how did we not see this, we were just on a beach and didn’t even notice it, why did my baby who already deals with autism, adhd and anxiety ALSO have to be the kid to deal with this too…. But then I look around and see all the support we have and remember that it will be ok, we will get through this even though sometimes it’s hard to think like that because this is NOT going to be an easy road and as a mom I am scared outta my mind and have shed lots of tears daily lately thinking about the pain this surgery is going to cause my baby.
Today she had a full sedation MRI to be sure nothing else will cause issues during surgery, then this Wednesday we have her Pre-Op appointment and finally on Feb 1st we will have her scoliosis surgery at Riley where they will put two rods in to straighten/fuse her spine. I’m thankful to have so many people in my life that will be there along the way to support us and love us while she/we goes through this.
Please pray for her and all of us. She is having moments where she is getting upset and just sobbing scared and of course I don’t let her see me in my tearful moments. I can’t possibly name everyone that I am thankful for so please know if you are in our life and have even just talked with me about stuff, you are appreciated! We truly are blessed to have the friends and family we do! So, keep praying and be thinking of us February 1st especially and the weeks after, as it will be a scary and tough month for us as we navigate her healing."
