I have known Carlton since he was 2 years old. He is the son of my best friend, Deana Griffin.
Carlton is a 40 year old hard working man, a great dad to two beautiful children, and a manager of a large ranch in Era, TX for the past 8 years.
He got a blister on his left foot Thanksgiving Day from hunting all day in wet boots. After medical care, and numerous rounds of antibiotics, the blister would not completely heal, and became a diabetic ulcer.
Carlton has been unable to work since the
third week of March 2021. On 4/9/21 he
underwent surgery to remove a couple of
toes. He woke up from surgery to find all 5
toes and a portion of his left foot removed.
Carlton was in the hospital for 4 days and
released.
After his release Carlton was in unbearable
pain, despite home health care, a wound vac, and pain medicines. Those three weeks are a complete blur to him, and he has little to no memories of the time between the two surgeries.
Fast forward to 4/30/21 and Carlton returned to the ER at the urging of home health, and excruciating pain. The leg and partial foot had been dying for 3 weeks, and he was diagnosed with Sepsis in the ER.
A vascular surgeon wanted to remove his leg below the knee that evening. ER says that his labs show he should have coded and been on a ventilator before he arrived, his body was septic. Surgery was performed on 5/2/21 and his left leg was amputated below the knee.
After all he has been through, he has the best attitude, and is eager to return to life as he knows it. He has refused to feel sorry for himself, or to ask why me. He has health
insurance that will pay 80% of his prosthetic leg, so he can return to work. Carlton would help anyone, and give the shirt off his back, if someone needed it. He is loved my many. I have created this page to help Carlton meet his insurance deductible, and the 20% of his
medical bills and prosthetic leg, that insurance will not cover. Carlton is NOT one to ask for help, or tell you what he needs.

Please give what you can, no amount is too
small, let’s rally around, and help Carlton and his family through this life changing
experience.
Thank you all for reading his story, giving from your heart, and for your continued prayers.
