Carlos and Maria are a hardworking family with three children, including a kindergartener with autism who I have the privilege of teaching in my life skills classroom. Carlos, the father, has always been deeply involved in his children's lives, even attending his son's ARD meetings over the phone while in difficult circumstances. Seven months ago, Carlos was detained by ICE, and since then, the family has faced unimaginable challenges. Their savings have been depleted, and Carlos has not been able to work, leaving Maria to care for their children on her own.

When I asked Carlos if there was anything they needed, he humbly asked if we could start this fundraiser. I want to share that I am not affiliated with any political party or ideology—my motivation comes from a place of compassion and a sense of guidance from the Holy Spirit. I know the need is great, but I truly believe in trusting what I heard in my spirit and want to see what God can do through the generosity of others. The family is in urgent need of support to secure a lawyer, help Carlos fight for his release, and give them a chance to stay together in the United States, where their son receives the care he needs. The funds raised will also help the family with basic living expenses as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
