Help Carlos Fight Barth Syndrome – A Rare Genetic Heart Condition
Hi, my name is Laquanda, and I’m the proud mother of the most handsome, resilient, and sweetest little boy in the world — my 2-year-old son, Carlos.
Carlos has recently been diagnosed with Barth Syndrome, a rare and life-threatening genetic disorder that affects the heart muscles, immune system, and energy production. This condition, which impacts only 1 in 300,000 births, is so rare and aggressive that it tragically claimed the life of Carlos’ older brother, Khalil, in 2016.
We are preparing to relocate from MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital to the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, MD, where Carlos can receive advanced treatment options — giving him the best chance at life without having to endure a heart transplant. This transition comes with major financial challenges — travel, temporary relocation, medical costs, and missed work. Our family’s only goal is to give Carlos the absolute best care possible while minimizing his suffering and giving him the joyful, love-filled life he deserves.
We’re asking for your help — no matter how big or small.
Every single donation helps lighten the load and brings us closer to hope, healing, and more time with our precious boy.
Please donate, share, and keep Carlos in your prayers. We are firm believers that only the strong survive, and with your support, Carlos can be one of those strong ones.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you.
With love and gratitude,
Laquanda
