Hello, everyone
Some of you may know that for the past two years I’ve been one of the leaders at Crosspointe Youth (CY) on Sunday nights. One of the biggest and most powerful events we do each year is Houseboats—a week-long trip to Lake Shasta with 250–300 high school students. It’s a time where we unplug from all distractions, put away cell phones, and fully tune into God’s presence. It’s honestly incredible to watch these students—many for the first time—experience God in such a raw and real way.
I’ve had the privilege of walking with a small group of young men who are now entering their Senior year of high school. I’ve been with them since they were Sophomores. To hear them talk about how they want to live as Christ-followers and lead others closer to Jesus fills me with so much hope for the future.
This year would be my third time going to Houseboats. It has truly been one of the most impactful experiences of my life.
However, this year is different.
Two months ago, God blessed me with a new job—one that I’m very thankful for. When I was hired, I shared how much this youth ministry means to me, and they graciously approved time off for Houseboats. However, because I haven’t accrued any PTO yet, the week off will be unpaid. Additionally, leaders are not sent to Houseboats for free, so there is a cost involved just to go.
To be transparent, it’s been a financially challenging year. Taking a week off without pay—and paying to go—is something I simply can’t do on my own right now. And that’s why I’m writing this message, with humility.
Would you prayerfully consider sponsoring me to attend Houseboats this summer?
Any amount would be a huge blessing, and I promise it would directly impact the lives of these young men I’ve been walking with for the last three years. This is their final Houseboats trip, and I would be honored to be there with them—to guide, encourage, and send them off well into their senior year and beyond.
Please keep this in your prayers. It’s been both a joyful and stressful thing on my mind for a while on whether I’d be able to attend.
Much love and respect,
Carlos Alvizuri
PS: Before I could send this message. Someone graciously paid half my registration fee. Thank you!
