Please help us keep our family together

My name is Rita and I am asking for your kind support to keep my beloved family together. I am a single mother of three beautiful children, one boy and two girls. My children adore each other, as you can see in their faces when they are together. Carlos is the oldest -- a smart, kind, and thoughtful young man. He is always eager to help care for his little sisters, who love to laugh and play with him and who know that he is the best big brother in the world.

Unfortunately, our family is facing the possibility of separation and removal from our community. Because some of us are facing a deportation order, we need legal help to ensure that we can stay here together, in the only true home my children have ever known.

We have lived in the U.S. for nearly 10 years, since 2016. Over the years, my children have attended Bruce-Monroe Elementary School and MacFarland Middle School. Carlos has thrived in his education -- working hard to learn English and catch up with his peers, even as he helped to care for his sisters, while I worked multiple jobs at all times to built a better life for my family. In recent years Carlos has developed an interest in music, which he will pursue in high school.

My children are now entering 9th grade and 4th grade (and continuing in daycare), and they deserve to stay with their family safe and intact here in D.C., where they can continue to thrive. Unfortunately, I am scared that they will not be allowed to do so.

I know that this is a hard time for many families, and I wish that I did not have to ask for help. We love D.C. and want to stay here, not only so that our own family can survive and thrive but also so that we can continue to contribute to our community and build a better and stronger D.C. for the future.

I would be so grateful if you could contribute something -- anything -- to help us pay for legal services for our family. Every contribution will go directly to legal services to fight for my family to stay together and to grow into the beautiful future that my children deserve.

Mis hijos se adoran, como pueden ver en sus caras cuando están juntos. Carlos es el mayor: un joven inteligente, amable y atento. Desafortunadamente, nuestra familia enfrenta la posibilidad de ser separada y expulsada de nuestra comunidad.
