Fallen through the cracks of the healthcare system, Carlos has been struggling with seizures, complex migraines, occipital neuralgia, peripheral neuropathy, and other severe neurological symptoms for the last 4 years with no answers and no relief. We’ve seen countless doctors, tried dozens of medications, and been to the ER more times than one person should in their lifetime.

• 4 years of chronic nerve pain, untreated migraines, cognitive decline, memory problems, organ spasms, swelling, numbness, high blood pressure… and that’s just the start.

• 4 years of being dismissed my medical professionals. Treated like a junkie in need of pain meds or referred to Psych.

• 4 years of being misdiagnosed, given medications that numb and dull but don’t address the real issue.

• 4 years living in fear that he’s going to die ever day and that there’s no help out there.

Prolonged chronic pain has taken such a toll on his physical and mental wellbeing. As his girlfriend, best friend, and for-the last 4 years–his caretaker. I don’t know what else to do.

I’m scared. I’m desperate. And I’m exhausting every possible path.

We live paycheck to paycheck, and some weeks we can’t buy groceries. He can’t work the way he used to, and at the same time I work 2 jobs and pick up extra gigs where I can. On average I work 60-70 hours a week and when I’m home, I’m helping Carlos through his day.

Carlos has no quality of life right now. Something needs to change, and I’m determined to move mountains for the man I love.

We need specialized care and treatments that we can’t afford to pursue. Out of network doctors and facilities seem to be the only way to get Carlos real help.

Our first goal is a Neurofeedback center to help get to the root of his issues so that we can start treating the problem instead of the symptom.

The ultimate goal is to give him a better quality of life, revitalize hope that better days will come, and to find real solutions so that we can have a future together.
