Help Carlo Save His New Liver
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jennifer. My only child, Carlo, was diagnosed with an incurable liver disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) when he was 18 years old. He just turned 30 in August of this year when he was struck by complete liver failure. Physically unable to do anything on his own. He couldn’t even open a water bottle. Doctors said his movement and strength was of an elderly person, when just two months prior, he was doing anything and everything a young 30 year old does – happy, living and loving his life. By the grace of God, a matching liver donor was found and he had his liver transplant last October 8th.
Right when we thought Carlo was out of the woods, Carlo found out, before his discharge that his employer has cut off his insurance. The following morning after discharge, he developed a fever and was admitted back into the hospital. Doctors detect his body is rejecting the new liver. They are running a bunch of tests to confirm. Rejection is common in 40% of PSC patients, and we are hoping and praying that dosage adjustments will help his body accept the new liver. If not, he will need another liver transplant.
He needs to take anti-rejection drugs for the rest of his life. Without long term insurance coverage, our family is now faced with a significant out-of-pocket medical expenses that we cannot afford. Ultimately, keeping my son alive will wipe out our savings account.
I would like for my son to focus on healing, so I am asking for your kind consideration to help our family. Carlo needs to take his medications to prevent his body from attacking and damaging his new liver. 100% of our donations are to support Carlo’s medical expenses and recovery. We’re hoping that when he is fully recovered, he can get back to work and get insurance coverage again.
May you find it in your heart to help us out. Donations of any amount are welcome. Every contribution will help reach our goal. Whether or not you’re able to donate, please take a couple of minutes to share this page to your social media pages. Thank you very much.
