I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and deep hope for your support. My little cousin, Carlo Fabian, an incredibly brave 10-year-old boy in Peru, is preparing for urgent surgery to treat a painful and recurring perianal fistula — a condition that has caused him immense pain and limited his ability to even sit or walk.

When he was just 2 years old, an abscess appeared and was treated with antibiotics, but doctors chose not to operate because he was still in diapers. After 8 years, the condition returned more severely, with pain radiating to his leg. He couldn’t sit down and was in constant pain. Emergency doctors prescribed antibiotics again, but this time, surgery was unavoidable.

Although he is insured through his father's work, the public hospital could not schedule surgery for another 4 months — a delay he simply couldn’t endure. His mother had no choice but to pursue treatment privately, and the costs have become overwhelming.

He is now scheduled for surgery on July 25th — a procedure called a fistulotomy, which involves removing the fistula entirely and allowing the wound to heal from the inside out. It's a delicate process due to the risk of infection, and it requires careful post-operative care.

We are humbly asking for your help to cover the costs of his surgery, medication, anesthesia, and follow-up care. Any contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to seeing him healthy, pain-free, and back to enjoying the childhood he deserves.

Hola amigos, familiares y personas de buen corazón:

Les escribo con esperanza y humildad para pedir su apoyo. Mi primito, Carlo Fabian, un niño valiente de solo 10 años que vive en Perú, necesita someterse a una cirugía urgente para tratar una dolorosa y persistente fístula perianal — una condición que le causa un gran sufrimiento y le impide incluso sentarse o caminar con normalidad.

Cuando tenía apenas 2 años, le apareció un absceso como resultado de la fístula. Fue tratado con antibióticos, y aunque el absceso desapareció, no lo operaron por ser tan pequeño. Ocho años después, el problema regresó con más fuerza, causándole un dolor intenso que se irradiaba hasta la pierna. Lo llevamos a emergencias, donde le recetaron antibióticos, pero esta vez la cirugía era inevitable.

Aunque tiene seguro por parte de su papá, en el hospital público le daban una espera de más de 4 meses — tiempo que no podía soportar. Por eso, su mamá optó por llevarlo a una clínica particular, y los gastos han sido muy difíciles de asumir.

La cirugía está programada para el 25 de julio y se trata de una fistulotomía, un procedimiento que requiere mucho cuidado para evitar infecciones y asegurar una buena recuperación.
