Help Carling while waiting for a new kidney

Our beautiful and talented 37-year-old daughter Carling was recently diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease. This diagnosis came as a complete shock to her, her husband Sean, and all the people in her life who love her. She was already in stage 4 kidney failure when diagnosed and will need a kidney transplant to continue to enjoy her life. Until then dialysis will keep her going. Both the transplant and dialysis require several surgeries (the first of which is December 19 for a Central Venous Catheter in her chest for dialysis), with many specialist appointments and grueling testing several times a week. This has been very hard for both Carling and Sean. Both will be off work - Carling as she has dialysis and the on-going tests and Sean as he supports her with her treatments. Canada has a great medical system but there are many added costs related to this treatment. Already we are seeing the financial strain on both of them, which will be more difficult as dialysis becomes a regular part of her life.

All of her family are going through the testing process to see if any of us are compatible to be a kidney donor. This process will take months - probably into late 2023. We have helped with their financial stresses but cannot sustain support at the level they need. It is difficult to ask for assistance but we need your help.

Your support is needed to help them stay in their home - covering the extra costs of gas, travel to the hospitals and clinics, hospital parking, medical supplies after surgery, food for a new restrictive diet, and loss of income. Funds will be dispersed monthly to help them meet their needs. Once she has recovered from a successful transplant, any surplus funds will be donated to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
