Help Carley's Mom Overcome Cancer and Hardship

Hi, my name is Carley. I am my mom’s youngest daughter. Life has kicked us in the butt the last few years.

My father lost his life to cancer, and fast. We were left struggling to figure out what to do with his practice (he was a naturopathic doctor). Explaining to his patients that he died over the weekend was heart-wrenching.

Today, my family is just now getting out of this tragic time in our life only to find out my mother has ovarian cancer. She had a 7-hour surgery to remove the huge cancerous ovary about a month ago. We are working on chemotherapy now. My mom lives with my sister Becky, who is a full-time student and has a full-time job. Seems like when it rains, it pours. My mother’s car, which was being used to take her to her many appointments weekly, has broken down. Today, my sister’s car broke down on the freeway to chemo. Sounds like it’s going to be her transmission that will need to be fixed.

As a family, we are trying really hard to just make this tolerable for my mother. She is now starting to feel the effects from chemo. This was our last resort. But we need help. My sister has to take time off work, which loses money for rent, bills, or food.

My mother was a nurse for 25 years… she took care of patients in so many units, ending in labor and delivery. She dedicated her life to helping people. She is a wonderful mother and grandma. I just want her to get through this stress-free.

Anything helps!! Even just saying a prayer for her would mean a lot to us. We have a long road ahead of us.
