My name is Carlee Brown, I’m 28 years old and, as many girls are, have dreamed of being a horse owner and barrel racer my entire life. I worked hard to be able to financially afford a horse and finally my dream came true with Champ.
Champ and I ran barrels together and we were starting to become competitive. At just 5 years old, Champ had the biggest heart. Our dreams were becoming a reality, until Champ was tragically taken from this world too soon.
So here’s the facts: Champ has been at the same boarding facility for an entire year without incident. Yesterday, the owner where I kept Champ told me Champ kicked him and we were no longer welcome on his property and demanded we leave.
I’ve never seen Champ kick, but he is a horse and you never know. I told the owner to give me one day to find Champ a new home. I came out to take Champ the very next morning and found him laying in the dirt covered in sweat with a broken shoulder and no chance to recover. My strong boy, I got him standing and in the trailer while all he wanted to do was lie down, already on his way out. The vet told me he broke his humerus by his shoulder from blunt force impact. I held his head and cried and prayed over him until he left this Earth, too soon and with too many questions in my heart. How it happened will probably never be learned.
Now, I am left with Vet bills and payments on a horse that I will never get back and no chance to own another one without help. I’ve never asked for help before, but Lord knows I need it now.
Champ showed me a lifestyle that I’m not willing to give up. Through all evil, good prevails.
Thank you for listening to my story and for any prayers or contributions.
Sincerely,
A dreaming horse girl that isn’t giving up.
