My name is Carla Brewington, I’m a Christian Zionist, and I lost everything in the Altadena fires.
I'm reaching out for help as I try to rebuild my life. I was able to escape with only my wallet and car keys, narrowly making it out alive. My car nearly caught fire as I drove away, and by the time I ran out of my home, smoke and flames had already filled the space.
I lost everything - my phone, computer, clothes, my vast library of books, family mementos, furniture, and even my bed. My apartment burned to the ground, leaving me with nothing.
Recently, I underwent open-heart surgery and then three weeks later, I had spinal surgery. I then spent time in a rehab facility, relearning how to walk. Two weeks later, I was able to go home and then the fires came!
Now at age 76, I am trying to start over, but rebuilding from nothing is overwhelming. I am doing everything I can, but the road to recovery is long and costly.
The funds raised here will help me secure a safe place to live, replace essential belongings, and cover urgent expenses that remain unmet. Any support you can offer, big or small, would make a tremendous difference in my journey to rebuild. I am deeply grateful for any help you can provide.
