Hello friends, My name is Carla! I’m a 36 year old nerd, Ren Faire volunteer, historical costumer, semi-professional mouthpiece, and occasional YouTuber from Southern California.
On December 9, 2025, I was completely shocked and horrified when a huge piece of my back left molar broke off while I was eating and landed right in front of me. As you can imagine, this caused me very intense pain afterward. This pain was so severe that it forced me to leave work early in order to seek care from a professional.
When I was finally able to see a dentist, I was told that the problem was too complex for regular dental practice and I had to make another appointment with a specialist. Soon after, I met with the specialist and they informed me that I needed the molar extracted along with the adjoining molar next to it. (I’ve had dental work done on the adjoining molar already in 2020, but the root area is now too far gone.) As an added surprise, I was also informed that one of my front teeth needs both a filling and a root canal.
One of my biggest fears is dental procedures. I do everything I can to maintain the health of my teeth, but unfortunately unprecedented events such as this have made these surgeries unavoidable.
To be able to preserve my ability to eat and function without pain, the specialist impressed upon me the importance of surgical procedures for a bone graft, tooth implant and root canal.
How you can help!
Any amount you donate will greatly help with affording all of my dental surgeries. Additional donations will be used to help with missed work time and any incidentals pertaining to my treatment.
The extraction date for my tooth is set for January 3, 2026. The dates for the bone graft, implant, and root canal are still pending and dependent on the healing of the extraction site, giving me time to raise money for my care.
The bone graft estimate is $300 and the implant estimate is $2,500.
There will need to be a large amount of healing time in between procedures. I am a hardworking human, so I will still be continuing to work throughout this process, but because of other life expenses, I absolutely cannot afford such a hefty sum on my own.
A very generous friend helped with $1000, but I'm still hoping to raise the other $1,800. I know this is a lot of money to raise, but if you’re asking yourself if your donation will help, I can assure you it certainly will. Any amount you choose to donate will be an amazing contribution to my health.
I have always had issues with my dental health, but never this critical, so this has been a very stressful and scary process. That being said, I have still been trying to smile throughout all of this and remain positive and brave.
Thank you in advance for your support and generosity during this holiday season, and please stay amazing!
