Hi. My name is Pam. I am helping my friend, Mika Abuy, raise funds for her sister who is currently battling Guillain-Barre syndrome. I have reached out to my friend and she told me that her sister is currently admitted in the hospital and her family needs help with the medical bills. I am doing the campaign on her behalf because she encountered problems that wouldnt allow her to make a GoFundMe page.
Below are some photos of Carla, who is currently at the hospital.

"My sister, Carla, is an eight grade student and turning grade 9 this coming August 2022. She is also an active member of church choir in our home town, Tabango, Leyte, Philippines.
But suddenly, around 3rd week of May 2022, my sister had a hard time walking. Then gradually as day had passed she cannot move any part of her body except her head and she can feel a pins or tusok- tusok in her hand and feet. It started in June 6, 2022 that my sister cannot move any of her extremeties. And then in June 7, 2022, we went to the local hospital and asked help for her condition. The doctor gave her a medicine for potassium deficiency, thinking that it might electrolyte problem. They told us to go to Ormoc City or Villaba for electrolyte lab test but for the meantime she will take the medicine that she gave while waiting for the result. So we went to Villaba since it is nearer to our town. A lab conducted her blood test for electrolyte. The result of the test shows that her potassium, sodium and chloride are normal. So in June 10, we went back to the hospital and reported the result. The doctor gave her B-complex vitamins and asked to drink Kalium, a potassium chloride medicine, once a day. As day passed, there are no improvements and my sister is having a hard time to drink water. So we went again to our local hospital to check her up. The doctor told us to go to Ormoc City and find an Orthopedic to check her condition. So in June 15, 2022, we went to Ormoc and found an orthopedic at St. Patrick laboratory. The doctor told us to have an xray of her spinal column and another test of electrolyte. At this moment it showed that her potassium and sodium is low. The doctor gave us a heads up that if my sister is still not okay within 2 weeks of medication, we need to find a neurologist because she is showing symptoms of Guillain-Barre syndrome. After 2 weeks of taking K-lyte, potassium chloride medicine, she is showing some little improvements.
In July 1, 2022, my sister having unlikely difficulty breathing. And we brought her to the nearest hospital. The doctor told us that we need to go to a bigger hospital in Ormoc City in order to help her conditon and they gave her oxygen and dextrose. We were escorted by our municipal ambulance and went to Ormoc District Hospital.
In Ormoc District Hospital, they ran again electrolyte test for her and the result showed that it was all normal. The doctor said that my sister is showing symptoms of Guillain barre syndrome. And we need to be transferred in hospital in Tacloban City in which there is a Neurologist to check her up.
Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves. Weakness and tingling in your hands and feet are usually the first symptoms.
These sensations can quickly spread, eventually paralyzing your whole body. In its most severe form, Guillain-Barre syndrome is a medical emergency. Most people with the condition must be hospitalized to receive treatment.
So we asked the a specific hospital in Tacloban City about her treatment which they can offer. They said tha my sister needs to have Intravenous Immunoglobin therapy (IVIG). Per bottle of IVIG costs 21,000 pesos (~500 CAD/~400 USD) each and they said that according to the report my sister weighs around 50 kilos in which she needs 20 bottles of IVIG. And it will cost more than 400,000 pesos (~10K CAD/~8K USD) . Plus, ICU costs 20,000 pesos (~500 CAD/~400 USD) each day and other medical bills will add up.
My sister is currently in critical condition in ICU.
We are out of money to sustain this much kind of medication. We badly needed to raise a fund for my sister.
We hope that you can help us raising a fund for my sister.
