Hi, my name is Kierra, and I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my father, Carl, who is currently fighting for his life and working toward recovery after a severe, unexpected medical emergency.

On May 8, 2025, my dad suffered a massive heart attack with three arteries 100% blocked and a “widowmaker” blockage at 85%. He underwent emergency angioplasty the night he arrived at the hospital, followed by open-heart surgery two days later. After surgery, there were complications when his blood refused to clot, requiring a second emergency surgery. His chest was left open for three days to control the bleeding before it could finally be closed.

During his initial recovery, my dad developed pneumonia due to intubation, complicating and extending his hospital stay. Two weeks later, he underwent another surgery to remove the Impella device that was assisting his heart. Multiple attempts to remove the ventilator failed due to exhaustion and pneumonia, and a temporary tracheotomy was placed to help his upper respiratory system heal. After three weeks in St. John’s CVICU in Tulsa, he was transferred to a long-term specialty hospital, where he still remains as he continues his fight toward recovery.

We are unsure about the time frame he will remain in the hospital. Currently, all assisting medical devices have been removed, but it is being discussed that he may be transferred again to a long-term care facility to focus on his rehabilitation. We will give progress updates weekly.

My parents, Carl and Tina, built a two-income household, but due to these unexpected events and the necessity of my mom being at the hospital every day, she was let go from her job. This has placed a heavy financial burden on our family while my dad continues to fight to come home.

We are asking for help to raise $15,000 to assist my mom with:

* Rent and utilities to keep their home stable

* Groceries and basic living expenses

* Gas for traveling to and from the hospital daily

* Phone bills to stay in touch with family and doctors

* The mounting medical bills that continue to arrive

My dad has always been a hard worker and a dedicated family man, while also remaining available to show up for the people around him, whether it’s a friend or strangers in need. He never sees a stranger, but a fellow person and future friend. Now, he needs help as he faces the hardest fight of his life.
