Help Carl McNutt, a Disabled Vietnam Veteran, Reclaim His Life

Hello, my name is Mark McNutt, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my older brother, Carl McNutt — a 79-year-old disabled Vietnam veteran who has fallen victim to a heartbreaking case of financial and elder abuse.

Carl lost his wife of 60 years three years ago. She had been his caregiver and managed their household finances. After her passing, Carl, trusting an old friend’s daughter, invited her and her family into his home to help care for him. Tragically, instead of receiving help, he was isolated, financially exploited, and left without even the basic necessities to survive.

In the past year:

Over $100,000 of his VA and Social Security funds have been drained.

A $110,000 loan was fraudulently taken against his home.

His mortgage is now 4 months behind.

Utilities are $10,000 past due.

He was left without food, furniture, or funds — only his bed, dresser, and an empty bank account remain.

With the help of veterans' legal services, we’ve secured a temporary restraining order against the abusers, but Carl desperately needs ongoing legal representation to:

Permanently remove them from his home and deed.

Pursue recovery of his stolen funds.

Protect him from further harm.

He also urgently needs:

A refrigerator

Basic furniture

Household essentials

Food and utilities support

I’ve spent $8,000 of my own savings trying to stabilize the situation, but I cannot do this alone. That’s why I’m asking for your help — to give Carl the legal defense, security, and dignity he deserves after serving our country.
