Two days ago, our brother and his wife experienced a heartbreaking tragedy. Our eldest brother, Carl Simon, and his wife Linda lost everything when their home in rural Stamps, Arkansas was completely destroyed in a fire. In a matter of minutes, their entire life (memories, clothes, furniture, daily essentials) was reduced to ashes. What makes this loss even more painful is that it happened just 2 weeks after Carl underwent a leg amputation due to complications from diabetes which he has dealt with for decades. As you may know, Carl has lived with cerebral palsy since he was a baby, which has always affected his mobility. Now, as he begins the long road to recovery from surgery, he is also facing the trauma of losing his home and everything in it. In a couple weeks, Carl and Linda will be moving into a senior housing apartment, but they now have nothing to bring with them. On top of this, Carl is facing a long recovery and ongoing medical expenses from his recent amputation and continued care. Medication, home health nurse, and mobility devices are just the tip of the iceberg. Because they live in Arkansas, Linda is his only caregiver and will be instrumental 24/7 as he recovers. They are in urgent need of support to cover clothing, household items, medications, and basic living expenses.
Carl will turn 68 on August 30th. He is a Louisiana Tech alumnus, very intelligent, kindhearted, and known for always having a smile on his face. No matter the obstacles he’s faced, and there have been many, Carl has met them all with strength and an unwavering positive spirit. Carl and Linda are active members of Liberty Baptist Church, where they have found community and support
Please consider donating to help Carl and Linda rebuild their lives. Every gift, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference in getting them a safe, clean, comfortable place to live and recover. If you’re not able to give financially, we ask that you share this story to help us reach others who may be able to help.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, prayers, and support.
With love and gratitude,
Carl’s Siblings & family
