One accident changed everything. I became my mom’s full-time caregiver overnight, and even a small donation—the cost of a cup of coffee—would mean more than you know as we navigate her long recovery.
On New Year's Eve, my mom suffered a serious accident when she fell off a ladder and broke her leg. She underwent surgery on New Year's Day to repair the break, and now faces a long road to recovery. For the next three months, she is bedridden and unable to put any weight on her leg, with another surgery already planned and a total recovery time that could stretch to a year or more. She requires round the clock care for repositioning, toileting, and pain management. As her primary caregiver, I have had to put off working so I can be home to take care of her full-time. This has put us in a difficult financial position, as we are now falling behind each month while I am not working. I had a full time career lined up that we were going to transition to prior to the accident. However, now we're behind on overhead each month plus other expenses related to caring for my mom.
Most of my mom's medical expenses are covered, but there are still important costs that we need help with. Recurring expenses for home care supplies, medical and therapy devices, and our regular household expenses like utilities and the house payments are starting to add up. With me unable to work, it’s been a challenge to keep up with everything, and we’re worried about how we’ll manage in the months ahead. I was utilizing my mom's support prior to the accident to transition to working so I could help cover bills. I homeschool my three young children while my husband works.
I sincerely thank anyone who takes the time to read our story, and we are so grateful for all the prayers and well wishes we’ve received so far. If you’re able to help, even the price of a cup of coffee would make a big difference for us.
If every person who reads this donates just 5 dollars each, we'd hit our goal in a short amount of time. Your kindness and support would mean the world and help us get through this challenging time. Please share to a friend. Alternatives posted below
