Hi, my name is Allison. I am the full-time caregiver for my mother through IHSS here in California. My mother is blind and living with end-stage renal disease, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, double amputations, and complications from both a stroke and heart attack. She now may need to enter a rehabilitation facility, which could temporarily stop my caregiver income with very little warning.

Like many caregivers, I built my life around caring for my parent full time. This sudden transition has created an immediate financial crisis while I try to navigate her medical care, maintain stable housing, and figure out what comes next.
