Help care for the monkey residents at Primates Incorporated
Tax deductible
Primates Incorporated is setting an example for what is possible for monkeys from labs and the pet trade. We provide multiple environments, enrichment, veterinary care, and daily professional care to the eleven monkey residents at the Primates Incorporated sanctuary located in Westfield, WI.
The organization was founded by Amy Kerwin, a former primate researcher who worked in a lab with 97 rhesus monkeys. The very intelligent rhesus monkeys inspired her to do more for their species and the nonprofit, Primates Incorporated, was formed in 2004. It took 14 years of increasing awareness about the need to help monkeys achieve sanctuary from laboratories, involving the community, fundraising, and networking to overcome many challenges to open our doors to the first three amazing rhesus monkeys in 2018 on our 19 acres of land in Westfield, WI. We have since worked with various laboratories who have reached out to send monkeys under their care to sanctuary. It is expensive to care for a monkey for their lifetime as they can live up to 35-40 years old.
We are grateful to all of the amazing humans who helped us get this far! Thousands of monkeys need help and we are setting an example for what is possible for them. No federal funding is set aside for monkeys to achieve sanctuary from laboratories. It is up to us to help provide for their lifetime care. Please visit our website to see how you can be involved in helping the monkeys! Thank you!
