Murphy is a 12-year-old golden doodle who has become the assisted living community’s little mascot. She was the beloved companion of Candy Ewert, who sadly passed away last week on 5/20/2026. Candy lived in an assisted living home, and Murphy has brought joy and comfort to the residents there. Since Candy’s passing, the community—and especially one resident—have fallen in love with Murphy and would like to keep her. This is the last home Murphy knows, and she is happy and thriving among friends who care deeply for her.

Many of the residents are on fixed incomes, and while they want to provide Murphy with the best life possible, caring for her could become expensive. We want to make sure Murphy is taken care of for the remainder of her life without being a financial burden on her caretakers. Funds raised will be used for Murphy’s food, treats, medical needs, yearly shots, grooming, and any other expenses related to her care and health. If Murphy were to pass and funds still remained, they will be used to assist another resident of the assisted living home with their pet needs. If funds remain and no other resident needs pet assistance, the remainder will be donated to Saginaw Animal Shelter in Murphy’s name.
