Benny contracted Covid in December of last year and proceeded to fight ... with weeks on a ventilator and months in the hospital and long term acute care. Since coming home in April he has continued to fight despite almost biweekly trips to the hospital for pneumonia and other Covid related issues. In the middle of September he went into the hospital and was moved to hospice a couple of weeks ago. He needs constant care.
Benny is a fighter ... always has been from his days as a young man growing up in Wisconsin, to his time serving our country in Korea where he was exposed to Agent Orange, his move to Texas in the early '70s, to raising sons as a single dad after his wife passed away in 1980, to running a small business during tough economic times, to his fight against Covid. Unfortunately, despite hopes and prayers for a recovery, his fight may be coming to an end as he transitions to his final home.
Luckily, in the meantime, he was able to get his wish to "go back home" to the home he and his beloved wife Bev have shared for the last two decades. Hospice provides help about 45 minutes or so 5 days a week and at some point there may be help from the Veteran's Administration. However, in the meantime, his and Bev's finances have been drained over the last several months and they could use our help to provide caregivers a few hours a week. Not only will this help Benny, but will help Bev get out of the house a few hours a week to run errands and take a mental break from the 24 hour a day/seven days a week stress.
Any donation you can give would be greatly appreciated and will go directly to his care.
