We are needing help raising $ to pay for transport to get this amazing, rescue doggy to his forever home in North Carolina!!!
Hi everyone, my name is Kristen. In Oct 2023, my fiance (Ray), and I rescued this AMAZING pup, Carbon, from the Dekalb County Animal shelter in Atlanta the day before he was scheduled to be euthanized due to overcrowing. We had the immense pleasure of fostering him while Ray was on medical leave for 1 year, but knew we'd have to find him a home once he started working again. We grew so attached to him and would have kept him if we could, but we simply couldn't.
We tried for that entire year to find him a home, but weren't able to. Thankfully in Dec 2024, we found a small rescue group in Florida willing to take him. They are a volunteer-based, non-profit organization, and Carbon thrived in their care! They also fell in love with him, and we were actually hoping that the foster he was with in FL would adopt him. She loved him, and he seemed like a perfect fit. But in March 2025, they reached out letting us know that his foster mom was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and was no longer able to take care of him. We were devastated. Due to a lack of volunteers and current ones being maxed out with foster intakes in their own homes, Carbon was in danger of being returned to an overcrowded shelter though no fault of his own.
We jumped into action wanting to help the rescue find him a home ASAP, campaigning HARD for him. The rescue did everything they could to keep him out of the shelter, bouncing him around between some amazing volunteers when they were able, buying us time to find him a home.
Ray and I personally took out an Ad on Facebook and vetted on average 9 households a day for over 2 months, having zoom calls and FaceTimes with potential adopters. Facebook records show we had conversations with over 400 people who responded to the Ad (!!!). Lots of people were interested in him and wanted to adopt him based off his picture, but very few checked all the boxes of being able to provide what he needed.
But...finally, FINALLY...we found his ideal forever home. It is a wonderful couple in NC with 2 other dogs at home and lot of experience with rescuing doggies. They are ready to open their hearts and home to Carbon.
The only thing standing in the way is $1,400 to transport him from FL to NC. We will be using the company Pet Travel Transport and need to raise the money to get Carbon to his forever home. (I have attached a copy of the quote in the photos).
Carbon has been through so much and deserves the most loving, wonderful, amazing home that we have waiting for him.
Lots of people making a small contribution can get him there.
Thank you so much for your support!!!!!
Love,
Kristen and Ray
