In the spirit of giving, I’m reaching out on behalf of my incredible partner Car, an artist whose talent and passion inspire me every day. In 2023, they suffered a hand injury that, unfortunately, still hasn’t fully healed. Sculpture is their life’s work, but recovery has made it hard for them to create without pain.

One way they can keep expressing their creativity without risking further strain is by getting a small test kiln. To make that possible, I’m hoping to help them raise funds and purchase the kiln asap.

This kiln will allow them to:

• Safely fire small ceramic pieces (such as watermelon seed worry stones she uses to raise funds for aid), while reducing the strain on their hands as they continue to recover.

• Have a faster turnaround time for art.

• Experiment with new artistic techniques and expand their creative practice.

How do I know all this? It’s something Car has been talking about all year. She has tried weekly to get a test kiln on Craigslist and has had no luck securing one. The strain of filling up a larger kiln means small projects can take months instead of weeks to complete despite demand. It has been a frustrating process all while working within the limits of their recovery.

This kiln isn’t just a tool—it’s a lifeline for their art and well-being during this extended healing process.
