Help Capture Priceless Moments: New Camera for Softball
Donation protected
Hi Everyone! And thanks for checking out my GoFundMe!
For the last couple of years, I've been dabbling in sports photography for my kids and their softball teams. Mostly for fun, but lately I've been doing it a lot for their travel teams. I've never done this for pay nor have I ever considered that, I do it because I want these girls and their parents to have lasting shots of their time playing ball that they can take with them going forward. Because in reality, we never can have enough great still photographs of our kids playing sports. Especially GOOD pictures!
A month or so ago, I was talking to a parent about wanting to upgrade my camera but I really couldn't because of the cost. Currently, I'm shooting on a Canon EOS Rebel XS (circa 2008) with a EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 lens. It's been doing a REALLY great job, however I could stand getting a serious upgrade from something that's nearly 20 years old (especially with everything that's new, technology-wise). The parent suggested I open a GoFundMe and crowdsource it.
After a lot of research, I feel like my best options going forward (especially for softball shots) would be the following:
Camera: Canon EOS R50
Lens: Canon RF 70–200mm f/4L IS USM
Lens Hood: Canon ET-83G(WIII)
The total I'm trying to generate is $2500. That will cover the camera (about $660 after tax), the lens (about $1650 after tax), the hood (about $66 after tax), and a carrying case (about $25 after tax). Whatever's leftover after taxes/shipping/etc., I will donate it to the Alzheimer's Association (will provide receipt and proof).
I know that's a lot to ask for, I do. I've added some pictures here to my GoFundMe to show what kind of pictures I'm taking now with nearly 20yo technology. And this new camera will just take unimaginably better ones.
So, if you've got the means and you'd like to support my hobby by helping me get this new camera and lens, I'd greatly appreciate it! I'd love to keep doing this for my kids and their teammates for as long as I can. Maybe grandkids as the years roll down.
