Hey everybody, I'm reaching out on behalf of Captain Johnny down in Utila - he messaged asking for any assistance with a surgery he needs ASAP. He has a frighteningly large bulging hernia that requires surgery before more severe complications occur. (When I say large, I'm talking the size of a softball - Johnny sent pictures that are very shocking to see, enough that I didn't want to post them here...)

It's at the point where it's almost restricting blood flow, the pain is getting worse, and delaying surgery could lead to some very, very bad things for Captain John. He can try to go to the state-run hospital, but they are notorious for poor conditions, lack of equipment/training, poorly trained staff, and corruption - get paid, don't actually provide services.

His other option is a private doctor/clinic where his odds are much better to receive the care he needs. He's estimating the cost to be between $2500-3000 if he goes this route. This is a huge sum for Johnny, and anyone else down in the Bay Islands. Capt. John is a fisherman by trade, and for those who have been down to Utila know that even a great fisherman is only making pennies per pound for their catch. Johnny is a proud guy, so reaching out to us tells us things are going downhill fast.
