Help Captain Joel's Young Daughter with Leukemia
Donation protected
Captain Joel's daughter needs our help. Eighteen-year old Sadia, while pregnant, was diagnosed with Leukemia. In early November the doctors delivered baby Emma early so that Sadia could begin chemotherapy.
Mexico's public health covers many areas of healthcare, but it does not cover cancer treatments for adults. If Sadia were still 17, the chemo would be covered. The family does not have the money to pay for the expensive treatments. Joel, who has captained Johnny and other Dive Paradise boats, is distraught by his inability to pay for the treatments that could cure Sadia. Wife and mother Veronica and 14-year old brother Angelo pray for the financial help this family needs.
Emma's birth and Sadia's first chemo treatment took place at a hospital in Merida. While Joel and Veronica have been at the hospital with Sadia and Emma, Angelo has continued going to middle school on Cozumel, living on his own. Because the family resides in Cozumel, the rest of the treatments need to take place at a hospital in Chetumal.
Fortunately, the leukemia was caught early, and the doctors believe that four months of chemo may conquer the cancer. The doctors will reevaluate after the four months are completed.
Our goal is to raise the necessary money approximately $4800 for the four months of known treatments. No contribution is too small. If you like, you can contribute anonymously.
If you are comfortable with sharing this webpage via email, facebook or other social media, we would be forever grateful. Little Emma needs her young mother.
