Capt Phouc Tang immigrated from Vietnam with his family into the United States in 1980 and has been shrimping in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina since 1989. Capt Tang and his boat, the CAPT TANG, is an iconic fixture at Shem Creek and the Charleston Harbor for both locals and visitors alike. Unfortunately, the CAPT TANG recently experienced a major casualty to its engine and shaft, requiring significant and extensive repairs in order to safely shrimp this season.
Capt Tang desperately needs to raise $20,000 to pay for these repairs by July 1. By supporting this effort, you are helping ensure one of the few remaining local shrimpers is able to stay afloat and remain in business. Everyone should strive to eat locally caught seafood from our own fishing community rather than importing it from overseas. All of the shrimp and seafood caught on the CAPT TANG goes to local restaurants and consumers.
You can see Capt Tang and his beautiful boat at the beginning of this video up to 2:10 of this year’s Blessing of the Fleet https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?v=1361333954055475&ref=watch_permalink
