Help Capri Fight For Her Life - Support Needed!

Capri’s recovery has been a good one. We haven’t regained all the muscle mass we had, and our stools haven’t reverted back to their regular consistency as our appetite has changes, but we’re healthy all round! I wanted to share that we are still fundraising as there are still residual costs… Hoping that we can continue to share our fundraiser.  Most importantly, thank you to everyone!!!  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! My name is Alexandria (mom of Kale, Sephora, & Julian), and I'm reaching out for help during a tough time. I’m a single mother currently on medical leave and relying on Employment Insurance (EI) to get by, while going through a legal ordeal to not lose our home. Recently (Tuesday July 17th), our beloved Afghan Hound, Capri, started showing worrying signs of illness, and our vet suspects it might be meningitis, but it is not, and we still don’t know what’s wrong... As any pet parent knows, hearing this news is heartbreaking and overwhelming.

Unfortunately, the cost of tests, treatments, and care needed to diagnose and treat meningitis is more than I can handle right now. While Capri’s insurance will cover part of the expenses, there’s still a significant portion left that I simply cannot afford on my own.

UPDATE

Saturday 21st September, 2024:

Capri had a spinal tap on Thursday (19th) morning, and by Friday (20th) morning the neurologist deemed that she was negative for meningitis. Good news, but Capri’s fever was still present and climbing.

The next step was an MRI with the radiologist, on Friday morning to see what

we couldn’t with the naked eye. They found inflammation in her spinal cord in her neck. The radiologist believes that it could be an infection, in the spinal cord, so they have put Capri on large spectrum of antibiotics to see if she responds to that.

We visited Capri this morning and she wagged her tail when she saw us. Her head hangs low as she is still in a great deal of pain, therefore the medication for pain is still being given to her. Capri will continue to spend the weekend in the hospital as her fever has not come down, and she is in the same state as she was on Wednesday.

Capri means the world to me and my family. She's not just a pet – she's a part of our home, our comfort, and our joy. I’m doing everything I can to ensure she gets the best care possible, but I need your help to cover the medical expenses that insurance won’t.

Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. Your support would help give Capri the chance to recover and continue being the loving, playful dog she’s always been.

Bien que l'assurance de Capri couvre une partie des dépenses, il reste encore une partie importante que je ne peux tout simplement pas me permettre par moi-même.

 Mise à jour Samedi 21 septembre 2024 : Capri a subi une ponction lombaire jeudi (19) matin, et vendredi (20) matin, le neurologue a estimé qu'elle était négative pour la méningite. Bonne nouvelle, mais la fièvre de Capri était toujours présente et s'élevait. 

 L'étape suivante était une IRM avec le radiologue, vendredi matin pour voir ce que Nous ne pouvions pas à l'œil nu. Ils ont trouvé une inflammation de la moelle épinière dans son cou. Le radiologue pense qu'il pourrait s'agir d'une infection de la moelle épinière, ils ont donc mis Capri sur un large spectre d'antibiotiques pour voir si elle y répond. 

Nous avons rendu visite à Capri ce matin et elle a remué la queue quand elle nous a vus. Sa tête est basse car elle souffre encore beaucoup, donc le médicament contre la douleur lui est toujours administré. Capri continuera à passer le week-end à l'hôpital car sa fièvre n'a pas baissé, et elle est dans le même état que mercredi. 

 Capri signifie le monde pour moi et ma famille. Elle n'est pas seulement un animal de compagnie - elle fait partie de notre maison, de notre confort et de notre joie. Je fais tout ce que je peux pour m'assurer qu'elle reçoive les meilleurs soins possibles, mais j'ai besoin de votre aide pour couvrir les frais médicaux que l'assurance ne fera pas. 

 Toute contribution, aussi petite soit-elle, signifierait le monde pour nous. Votre soutien aiderait à donner à Capri la chance de récupérer et de continuer à être le chien aimant et ludique qu'elle a toujours été.
