Capo Café was opened in 2017 so that we here in Vaughan could enjoy the authentic craft of a Calabrian espresso bar. All of our customers have become family, and in honouring our Italian roots, we would like to help the communities both here, and back home during this world-wide crisis.
The COVID19 pandemic has hit Italy in a way we could have never imagined and as much as we are thankful for the aid that has arrived we still worry about our friends and family in the South where the virus is beginning to spread. In the smaller towns, where the elderly are most prevalent, we want to make sure they are ready for what may come.
We also fear for our own community here in Vaughan and recognize that not everyone can afford a steady supply of basic items that can help keep them safe, nor is there an abundance of supplies for our front line workers.
OUR CURRENT GOAL FOR CALABRIA, ITALY :
To send 500 disposable masks and 1000 gloves each to 5 locations.
The towns/locations are: Serra San Bruno , Vibo Valentia , Chiaravalle Centrale (2 old age homes), and Gagliato.
OUR CURRENT GOAL FOR VAUGHAN, ONTARIO :
To procure 1000 disposable masks and 2000 gloves:
*100 households will receive a free care package containing each medical supply (5 disposable masks & 10 gloves)
* 2 Firehalls/EMS stations in Woodbridge will each receive a care package containing 250 disposable masks and 500 gloves.
For logistical purposes, we’ve partnered with our friends at Guangdong Xianxing International Trade Co., a manufacturer in Guangzhou, China to arrange for the distribution of these medical supplies to Calabria.
Any funds left over that cannot fulfill an order, will be donated directly to Second Harvest to ensure that every dollar raised is put to use in our communal effort to #FIGHTCOVID19.
