Help Candy Explore Taipei's Culture!

Hello my name is Candy Lopez Hernandez. I'm a junior at Roosevelt High School in Portland Oregon. I plan to study abroad over the summer of 2025 in Taipei,Taiwan for language and culture! I thank God for this opportunity He has given me. This opportunity was given to me through CIEE and I would like to give them a huge thank you for this opportunity. As well to TRIO for the help and support they gave me during my application. Thanks to them I am able to learn more about how unique we all are in this world. I am beyond excited to learn about Taipei’s culture and the history behind it! Taiwan’s language is so unique and diverse which makes it even more special to me. I always had a deep appreciation and respect for the different cultures and languages that people have in their hearts and how it makes them as a person. Knowing that others have different cultures just like I do makes me feel proud of my own. The different traditions in which not every country has is what makes them different in their own way. I'm grateful for being one of the many recipients of receiving the scholarship and beyond grateful and blessed of it covering 99% of my tuition. Due to financial circumstances, my family and I are not able to afford the rest of it. I am deeply grateful for anyone who is wanting to donate so I could have this amazing opportunity to have and make connections and paths for my future. May God bless you all!

Edit: My tuition is fully paid thanks to all the donations! Though i was not aware of my plane ticket being paid on my own.I would appreciate if donations were made for the ticket expenses. I deeply appreciate all of your support for me! :)

Hola, mi nombre es Candy López Hernández. Soy estudiante de tercer año en la escuela secundaria Roosevelt en Portland, Oregon. ¡Planeo estudiar en el extranjero durante el verano de 2025 en Taipei, Taiwán, para aprender idioma y cultura! Doy gracias a Dios por esta oportunidad que me ha dado. Esta oportunidad me fue brindada a través de CIEE y me gustaría agradecerles enormemente por esta oportunidad. Así como a TRIO por la ayuda y apoyo que me brindaron durante mi postulación. Gracias a ellos puedo aprender más sobre lo únicos que somos todos en este mundo. ¡Estoy más que emocionado de aprender sobre la cultura de Taipei y la historia detrás de ella! El idioma de Taiwán es tan único y diverso que lo hace aún más especial para mí. Siempre tuve un profundo aprecio y respeto por las diferentes culturas e idiomas que las personas tienen en sus corazones y cómo eso los convierte como personas. Saber que otros tienen culturas diferentes a las mías me hace sentir orgulloso de la mía. Las diferentes tradiciones que no todos los países tienen es lo que los hace diferentes a su manera. Estoy agradecido por ser uno de los muchos beneficiarios de la beca y más que agradecido y bendecido por haber cubierto el 99% de mi matrícula. Debido a circunstancias financieras, mi familia y yo no podemos pagar el resto. Estoy profundamente agradecido por cualquiera que quiera donar para poder tener esta increíble oportunidad de tener y hacer conexiones y caminos para mi futuro. ¡Que Dios los bendiga a todos!
